The South Essex members of the executive committee of the [Essex County F.A.] act as a special commission at Brentwood on Friday evening to inquire into a case of misconduct by players at Billericay in October.

Mr S.J. Heard, the referee, reported A. Eley for striking him, G. Wakeling for knocking down a linesman, and Brentwood St. Thomas team for leaving the field ten minutes before time.

During the evidence it transpired that the referee was a member of the Billericay F.C. and a brother of the linesman. Eley and Wakeling declared that they were first molested by the referee and linesman, and only retaliated in self defence.
The commission decided as follows: - 1. That Eley and Wakeling be suspended to December 15 and 8 respectively, and the other nine players of the Brentwood team from November 20 to 27 inclusive.  2. That S.J. Heard be not allowed to referee again for Billericay F.C. ; that the linesman be debarred from entering the ground in future; and that the Billericay Club be severely censored for not observing the order of the association respecting the appointment of referees.

Each club was ordered to pay a moiety of the expenses of the inquiry.
