The 1960's saw the start of the modern Billericay Town Football Club.

Billericay Town were a member of the Mid-Essex League Third Division in 1964, with local rivals Billericay Rangers. Rangers played their home matches on a pitch at Lake Meadows. Their Reserves some times played on New Lodge Recreation Ground whilst the Third Team would play on the Memorial Ground in Wickford.
It was in 1964 that the two clubs merged. Billericay Rangers had been promoted so Town took their place in the league.
Rangers captain Len Whiskin would go on to captain the Town side.

They became founder members of the Essex Olympian League and the appointment of John Newman as manager lead them to dominating the league and then becoming founder members of the Essex Senior League.
